What it is

Blends prepared to specification.

Alongside micronization, De Grandi prepares powder blends and pre-dispersions for the rubber and plastics industry: several components combined in defined proportions, delivered ready to be introduced into the compound.

For the customer this means one input instead of several, with the dosing already done upstream and verified.

The combination

Mixing and micronization together.

The two operations are complementary. Micronization reduces particle size and increases specific surface area; mixing distributes the components evenly through the mass. A blend made from micronized powders is more homogeneous than one made from coarse materials, simply because finer particles distribute more readily.

Having both capabilities on the same site means the two steps can be planned together rather than as separate supply chains.

FAQ

Powder mixing at a glance

What does powder mixing involve?

It is the preparation of blends and pre-dispersions: several powder components combined in defined proportions and delivered ready to be introduced into the compound. De Grandi offers this alongside micronization at its plant in Tromello (Pavia).

What is the advantage of a ready-made blend?

The customer receives one input instead of several, with the dosing already carried out and verified upstream. This simplifies the compounding operation and reduces the number of weighing steps where errors can occur.

Why combine mixing with micronization?

Because the two operations are complementary. Micronization reduces particle size and increases specific surface area, while mixing distributes the components evenly. A blend made from micronized powders is more homogeneous than one made from coarse materials, since finer particles distribute more readily.

Can blends be made to my own specification?

Yes. Blends and pre-dispersions are prepared according to the composition required by the customer. To discuss a specific formulation you can contact De Grandi on +39 0382 868402 or at info@degrandisrl.it.

How much does powder mixing cost?

There is no list price: the cost depends on the components, the proportions, the quantity and the processing required. De Grandi assesses each request individually, starting from the composition needed.

Where is the mixing carried out?

At the De Grandi plant in Tromello, in the province of Pavia, Italy, at Via Buccellati 2/4, on the same site as the jet-mill micronization lines and the applications laboratory.
