DG HF 2000 is a halogen free flame retardant additive developed specifically for polyolefins. It is recommended for PP (polypropylene), PE (polyethylene) and EVA, as well as other polyolefin-based compounds.

It originated in the research laboratories of Montell (now Basell), historically tied to polyolefin chemistry, and was developed under exclusive licence at De Grandi. Its application focus is therefore consistent with its origin.

The reason

An intumescent designed for these polymers.

DG HF 2000 is a phosphorus-nitrogen intumescent: during combustion it forms a homogeneous closed-cell char that isolates the polymer from oxygen. On a polyolefin matrix this mechanism allows a UL 94 V-0 classification to be achieved while retaining the characteristics of the compound.

It is a targeted solution rather than a generic additive: its formulation was refined for polyolefins, which remain its natural field of use.
