DE GRANDI MICRONIZATION

DE GRANDI MICRONIZATION

Micronization is a process has been used for many years and provides for the physical treatment of powders

that De Grandi has methodically applied to the rubber and plastic materials industry, through a careful analysis of each potential situation in which the micronization process could have a meaning from a technological and an application point of view.

The aim of the micronization process is to increase the specific surface of powders in etherophasic systems,
(i.e. those made up of polymers and powders which are insoluble in polymers)

The increase of the contact surface enhances the interaction between the polymer and the mineral fillers,
thus producing a homogeneous compound with steady rheological features and an absolutely better
performing vulcanized product.

The production process takes place in jet-mill facilities (air mills) allowing the granulometric reduction of powders and therefore a significant increase of the specific surface. The micronization process is based on the Energy contribution to the process which is transferred to the particles, which by exploiting the impact among them, allow a significant granulometric reduction of powders.

De Grandi main product in the micronization field is AT 820 micro GV zinc oxide, used for more than twenty years by its customers in every compound using the same quantity of AT 820 microGV zinc oxide (Containing 60% zinc oxide) compared to a green seal zinc oxide, by keeping the same results on the final compound; Furthermore, we have noticed a better resistance to aging and a better compression – set.

These features are included in the advantages of a better dispersibility of micronised products.
